Playlists and Repertoire Books
Starting new pieces is often more enjoyable when students already have a good idea of what the piece sounds like. Just as it’s helpful to see the completed picture of a puzzle, it’s helpful for students to have familiarity with a piece as they start the initial note-learning process.
How to use these
These recordings are intended for students to refer to from time to time and include a play-through at a reasonable performance tempo as well as a slow version where that would be beneficial.
These are not high quality recordings and are only intended to give an overall idea of the piece in terms of correct notes, rhythm, and general musical style and shape. Students will bring out the pizazz in each piece by adding their own personal character.
How not to use these
Please do not try to learn your pieces by copying how my hands look on the keyboard. Every hand is different and fingerings I used may not be consistent or best suited. Do follow fingerings in your own editions and that we may have marked in lessons.
Don’t overdo it! Use these to check in from time to time as you are learning your pieces or if you are unsure if you have notes and rhythms correct. Once you have it in your ear you’ll be more successful expressing the musical ideas with your own personality by not relying solely on this one version as a reference point.
